It sadly lacked Tim Burton's ominous style, which would have been ideal. I want to avoid getting too deep into Halloween Town's inexplicable dilemma to keep it discreet, but I'll mention that certain parts of the narrative felt repetitive and mildly dull. Although the chapters were brief, I valued the creativity behind the descriptive essence of each realm, even if it was under dire circumstances. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ My favorite element in this sequel existed in the other holiday towns. I had difficulty picturing her in that state of mind, mainly because her character fought hard for independence. I recall Sally being nurturing and well-balanced, but the ongoing insecurities that ensued were unimaginable. As much as Sally loved her King, the role of Queen didn't come naturally. Off the bat, the devotion between Sally and Jack is still as beautiful as in the movie.

When the book sequel, Long Live The Pumpkin Queen, came to fruition, I knew I had to read it! Beginning right after Jack and Sally's marriage, Ernshaw whisks the reader on a whimsical honeymoon of lovey-dovey bliss. Can Sally save the town she's learned to call home?⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite Tim Burton films. But when Sally and Zero accidentally uncover a long-hidden doorway to an ancient real, she'll unknowingly set into motion a chain of alarming events that jeopardize the future of Halloween Town. Casting into the spotlight and tasked with all sorts of queenly duties, Sally can't help but wonder if she's not cut out for this role. So in conclusion if your a TNBC fan this is truly the sequel we were all hoping for and all can I say is if Disney is smart they will start talking with Tim Burton and the OG cast about this story. I wish there was a bit more Jack and Sally interaction but for the plot I understand why not. The best thing of the plot to me is that it gives me a strong Cinderella vibe because Sally goes from being a indentured servant to Queen and must come to her own idea of what is a Queen and being her own person. The pace of the story reminds me more of a theater play like Shakespeare plays seeing the plot span in two weeks before a major holiday but I think that what makes it great because its almost identical in that matter to the original book/movie. The descriptive words are just like something from 18th century gothic tales. Ernshaw nails the Gothic Literature style. If your a fan of what happens after The End genre this is the book for you.
